About Science in the Bush
Science in the Bush brings all the excitement of Science in the City at the Australian Museum to schools in rural NSW.
An initiative of the Australian Museum and the University of Sydney, since 2006 Science in the Bush programs have been offering activities for primary and secondary students in conjunction with local science and education instiutions.
Science in the Bush events take two forms:
- Two Day Events - program a series of activities including talks, workshops, hands-on experiences and demonstrations, and science shows illustrating key scientific principles. With one day of programming tailored to high school students and another for primary schools these events aim to inspire students with the science that surrounds them every day and extend and support classroom teaching.
- One Day Events - tailored specifically to students studying stage 5 and 6 of the science syllabus these events aim to put local students in the labs with local scientists to provide practical experience in an area of specialty and provide them with insight into how a career in science might look from the inside.
Science in the Bush events have been held in Wagga Wagga, Albury, Orange, Newcastle, Mount Tomah and Coffs Harbour.
Science in the Bush is brought to you by the Australian Government through the Science Connections Program of the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research.
